Utah/ Wyoming Vacation

In the middle of July, we packed up our bags and headed west.  Gabe helped us drive out, but then had to fly back the next day to go to work.  Ashlee had signed up for a week-long Beehive camp in Brighton, Utah with her cousins.  So we stayed overnight at my sister Janet's house to see her off, then me and the boys got to play!

First stop:  Kaysville, Utah  

We got to see these turkeys, which have become (cousin) Daelynn's beloved pets.  Daelynn is staying at my parent's house all summer.

These turkeys are well taken care of. 

(And they might make a nice Thanksgiving feast for some people as well. 😀)

Next stop:  Alta, Wyoming

I love this place.  It is absolutely beautiful, and peaceful, and refreshing.

Emily and her kids were there that same week, so the boys got to play with their Brady cousins.

Thomas is obsessed with anything that has wheels.

Ben had an interesting way of riding a skateboard.

We visited the Wilson's farm, where we got to see 4-H sheep and pigs.  

Sam and Thomas especially loved the barnyard cats.

Another highlight was kayaking down the river.  Loved it, and we even got to see a moose!

Stopping at the drugstore was a must after kayaking. 

After being out in the hot sun kayaking, ice cream (and lime freezes) never tasted so good.

At the end of the week, we had to come back to Utah to pick up Ashlee. 

On Saturday, we all headed to Lake Jordanelle for some more fun.  

Although it was really crowded that day, we still had a great time.

We also visited Wendy and Matt's cabin that weekend as well, in which I failed to take any pictures.  But we had a fabulous cookout, and the kids took turns riding on the 4 wheeler, and more kayaking.

Then we headed back up to Alta for another week of fun.  (Ashlee insisted on going back, since she had missed the first week with us.)

The kids loved snacking on all the raspberries.  I snacked on a few myself, and I must admit they were pretty good.  We loved eating all the fresh produce out of my mom's garden.  (I especially loved the salads!)

Even Thomas got to try out kayaking for a few minutes with Audrey.

We celebrated Natalie's birthday while we were there too, complete with songs, games, and a pinata!

We had a great time.  I'm glad the kids could have this time to renew friendships with cousins whom they do not get to see very often.  It was a nice and relaxing vacation.
